Purpose of the role
The Deputy Regional Commissioner is a key role which works alongside the Regional Commissioner to manage and support a Scout Region, and ensure that it provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults.
The role also requires the right individual to:
• Provide leadership of Scouting in the Region
• Ensure that good quality Scouting is delivered to Young People
• Develop Scouting in the Region
• Promote and maintain the policies of The Scout Association
• Positively manage and support adults, defining role and responsibilities
Responsible to: Regional Commissioner
Responsible for: Members of the Regional Team as defined by the Regional Commissioner
Main Contacts: Regional Commissioner, Assistant Regional Commissioners, Regional Chairman, members of the Regional Executive Committee and its subcommittees, District Commissioners, Chief Commissioner, Depute Chief Commissioner (Region Support), Scottish Headquarters staff and volunteers, Regional and Deputy Regional Commissioners of other Regions in Scotland, members of the local community, schools and other youth organisations.
Purpose of the role
The Assistant Regional Commissioner (Communications) is a key role which has responsibility for ensuring that Scouting in the Region is appropriately promoted using various media channels, and that communication tools are used effectively to make and keep in contact with both internal and external audiences.
The role also requires the right individual to:
• Provide leadership of Scouting in the Region
• Ensure that good quality Scouting is delivered to Young People
• Develop Scouting in the Region
• Promote and maintain the policies of The Scout Association
• Positively manage and support adults, defining role and responsibilities

Purpose of the role
The Assistant Regional Commissioner (Section Support) is a key role which has responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the work of our sectional managers and supporters.
This appointment covers Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

• Ensure that good quality Scouting is delivered to Young People
• Develop Scouting in the Region
• Promote and maintain the policies of The Scout Association
• Positively manage and support adults, defining role and responsibilities

Purpose of the role
The Assistant Regional Commissioner (Explorer Scouts) is a key role which has responsibility for ensuring that adult leaders working directly with our 14-18 Explorer Scout Section are supported and that a quality programme is being delivered to the young people.
The role also requires the right individual to:
• Provide leadership of Scouting in the Region
• Ensure that good quality Scouting is delivered to Young People
• Develop Scouting in the Region
• Promote and maintain the policies of The Scout Association
• Positively manage and support adults, defining role and responsibilities

Main Responsibilities
• To provide the Region with effective support in order to enable more young people to safely experience more activities
• To manage work in the Activities area
• To provide a focus for specialist advice and support in relation to the activities area, to other members of the Regional Team and those in the Region and its Districts
• To proactively promote and develop the activity area within the Region
• To provide assistance and guidance to leaders in all areas of the activities agenda
• To provide support and advice to leaders in relation to grants/funds that are available for Activities including leader training in Activities (e.g. the Development Fund and the MacRobert Trust) • Have (or be willing to obtain) knowledge of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, especially the expedition section of the awards
Purpose of the role
The Regional Adviser (Scout Active Support) is a key role which provides practical support and assistance to other volunteers in order to establish, manage and develop Scout Active Support units.
