Christmas Challenge: #FillOurFoodbanks: Completed we donated 6880.35KG in food donations
COVID-19 has hit our most vulnerable people in society the hardest. This Christmas, Scouts across the North East of Scotland aim to #FillOurFoodbanks so we can help hundreds of people eat this Christmas.
Anyone can get involved with our challenge, you don't even need to be a Scout. Throughout the campaign we'll share information about how foodbanks are struggling locally and what donations would be appreciated.
The challenge is simple:
-
Collect donations.
-
Arrange with your local foodbank using our map a drop off time/day
-
Record your donation with us after you drop it off.
Our target for this challenge is between 5 and 10 tonnes
We want to keep donations as locally as possible and that's why we've included as many foodbanks in the area as possible on our map below so we can cover as much as we can during the challenge.
You can take action today whether you are a volunteer, young person or member of the general public by following five easy steps on the right hand side. Thank you for supporting us you can read more about the work of foodbanks by checking out this link. Click here
Challenge Update
#NEScouts set out on the 1st of December to #FillOurFoodbanks and we did just that. 3 weeks later we #filledourfoodbanks with a whopping 6880.35KG of food donations for local foodbanks.
To give you an idea of the size of the donation, that's the weight of a fully grown elephant and a bit more! Wow! 🐘🐘
This achievement would not be possible without our truly amazing volunteers and young people, who worked tirelessly during December to gather donations, when it's #neverbeenmoreneeded.
As a region we can do so much together and we will definitely continue that 🤝🤝. For now we hope you enjoy a well deserved festive break and we personally thank everyone who helped make a difference to hundreds of people who really needed our help. 👏👏👏
